Co-Founder and 2026 Co-Chair – Wendy Corn

Wendy Corn is a ceramic artist based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, whose work draws deeply from the intricate beauty of the natural world. Blending hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques, she creates one-of-a-kind pieces that move fluidly between sculptural and functional. Her forms are inspired by the textures and shapes of flora, fungi, and marine life, resulting in ceramics that invite both touch and reflection.

She has pursued advanced ceramic studies at the Visual Arts Centre and has furthered her practice through numerous workshops. Her work has been exhibited and sold at venues across Quebec, including Centre Culturel Georges-Vanier, Centre d’art E.K. Voland, Poterie Foster, and the 1001 Pots annual exhibition in Val-David.

Beyond her studio practice, Wendy is the co-founder of TerraTerre, an initiative dedicated to providing ceramic artists in Quebec with a much-needed creative space to exhibit sculptural work.

Through both her art and her community involvement, she seeks to explore the intersection of elegance, nature, and everyday use while supporting a broader dialogue around contemporary ceramics.

Co-Founder and 2026 Co-Chair – Gabriella Sperer Scope

Gaby Scope is an Israeli-Canadian professional ceramic artist established in Montreal whose practice is deeply influenced by her background. She maintains an active studio practice focused primarily on hand-built ceramics that blend functional forms with conceptual depth.

Gaby’s work is grounded in the vessel form, which she uses as a medium for storytelling and communication. Her pieces explore environmental, political, historical, and folkloric themes, often centred on water—both in its physical and spiritual dimensions, as well as geography, mythology, and symbolism. The surfaces of her work are intentionally textured to evoke time, erosion, and memory. At the heart of her creative process is a connection to living history and nature.

Gaby holds a BA in Sculpture and Ceramics from Concordia University and completed a residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in both group and solo shows. Her work is part of private collections in Canada, Israel, Switzerland, USA and France, and is included in permanent collections such as the Barbara and Philip Silverberg Collection, Montreal, Canada, and the Northcutt Steele Gallery, Montana State University, Montana.

Gaby is the co-founder of TerraTerre, an initiative dedicated to providing ceramic artists in our community and beyond with a much-needed opportunity to exhibit beyond the functional, and to expand our dialogue in the community.

Operations Manager – Lysanne Larose

A mostly self-taught ceramicist who favours hand-building techniques, Lysanne Larose is an emerging visual artist who lives and works in Montreal, Quebec.

Lysanne views her sculptural practice as an act of resistance, a resistance to the glossy, lifeless surfaces of contemporary life, and to the oppression of standardization, monetization, and key performance indicators.

While working primarily with clay, Lysanne often incorporates rusted metal parts found in a vacant lot, broken glass sourced from a car mechanic, or rock dust collected from a stone carver’s air filters in her sculptures. She’ll apply commercial flocking or paint to further enhance contrast – and sometimes even injects subtle wit and social commentary into her artworks.

Inspired by a piece of rusted machinery found in the woods, her Metallics series of works have been described as having “an other-worldly interdimensional feel”, and that their appearance is like “strange yet beautiful alien technological artifacts that humans have repurposed, and, at the same time, like rediscovered devices from forgotten empires.”

Her works have been included in group shows at Espace Pop, Galerie Erga, Foster Gallery, and the 1001 Pots annual exhibition. Her month-long solo show, The Erratics, was shown at Foster Gallery in March 2025.

With over 30 years of experience in communications, information technology, website building, and translation, she now brings her sense of humour and persnicketiness to the TerraTerre organising committee.

Outreach Manager – Maria M. Torres

Maria M. Torres is a Montreal-based ceramic artist originally from Venezuela. She holds a BFA from Concordia University (1994) with a concentration in Studio Arts. After many years working in the arts field, she recently returned to creating art, choosing ceramics as her preferred medium.

Maria’s involvement in the arts field includes developing and promoting the Belgo Building as an Art Centre. She was also the co-founder of Productions Exart, a non-profit organisation aimed at encouraging and mentoring artists in promoting their work. Additionally, she served as the Co-Director of Galerie St-Ambroise, which was later renamed Galerie Torres-Porcelli, and has worked as a Certified Art Appraiser.

Following the Latin American tradition of storytelling, she constantly explores various ways to tell a story through her sculptures. The narratives often touch on themes of folklore, history and family. Although her work may appear playful, it frequently addresses deeper issues related to women, immigration, and the absurdity of the times.
